About Shawn Phillips
Business leader, physical fitness innovator and physique model, Shawn Phillips may be best known as having the 'best abs' and one of the most recognizable physiques in the world. It was Shawn's commitment to maintaining a life of quality and meaning that has inspired him in his quest to help educate people on the healthy aspects of bodybuilding, alongside with his younger brother Bill Phillips, best selling author of Body For Life and recognized motivational leader.
With so many requests from people to help them design the right training program for them , Mr. Phillips knew that as one person, he could only do so much-but his knowledge of computers and intricate understanding of exercise led him to see that there was a solution-what people needed was personalized guidance, more so than even the 'hand holding' that most trainers do. They needed goals and a path for success.
The result of this insight was an incredibly successful computerized personal training application called PowerBuilding - needless to say it was many light years ahead of it's time. While Shawn Phillips was developing his training systems, he was also collaborating with his brother Bill on the creation of his company and soon to be media empire with the launch of Muscle Media Magazine.
The operation quickly outgrew the basement of the Phillips home and was moved to a small office that it quickly outgrew as well. The three original employees were quickly ten and then twenty. Just six years later, the company that had become EAS built a custom 60,000 square foot building, added 100,000 square feet of warehouse space and then annexed another 40,000 to house the two hundred plus employees and warehoused inventory that amounted to nearly $170 million in sales in 1999.
Looking for a new challenge, Shawn Phillips recognized an untapped opportunity for EAS in the international market and quickly set about establishing a separate operating division of EAS called EAS-International. In just three short years, EAS-International has grown to be not only a major part of the EAS growth but the most successful international sports nutrition company in the world. With sales in 42 countries on five continents, a distribution center in the Netherlands and a manufacturer and partner in Germany, EAS-International is poised to reach sales of $30 million this year and is growing faster than any part of the company.
In addition to this, Mr. Phillips continues to remain in the spotlight as a regular writer/contributor to Muscle Media Magazine, a company spokesperson and physique model, star of print film in such phenomenon as Body of Work in which he appeared in a very familiar role, along side his brother Bill.
He also has played the role of nutrition and training counselor to some of the greatest athletes and most famous celebrities in the world including Sylvester Stallone, Denver Broncos John Elway, and most recently Brad Pitt in preparation for the cult hit movie The Fight Club.
Turning his passion into business has successfully blurred the lines between work and play for Phillips. Shawn has met some of the greatest people and traveled every corner of the globe, but most importantly, has been fortunate to be investing his life doing something that "adds value to people's lives and in some way, to the world."
