Dave Keiter is the owner of Yellow Van Cleaning Services in Kearney, NE. He believes his company has benefited by "training the competition."

"I have a philosophy of life that everyone is going somewhere," Keiter believes. "When we hire a person at a technician's level I ask them how long they plan to work at our company. Honestly, most people do not think beyond the paycheck; however, to open dialogue on the choice of career and their personal goals, this begins to open doors for communication of what they really want out of life."
This also opens up an opportunity for superior cleaning technicians, Keiter says. A continual learning program without fear of training the competition means, for his company, his technicians develop character and good self-images.
"A person with a good self-image will demonstrate confidence to the client. The tech begins to understand the importance of continual learning."
When an employee decides to leave - for whatever reason - Keiter doesn't regret it. Instead, he leaves the door open for future employment.
